Planning of training
Time has
gone fast and it is middle of September. I better start making up
my mind, who all to train for this years Quest.
This summer the dogs very scattered out a bit, from up on the Glacier
running with sleds to in Dyea in Skagway running on wheels and at
home running free hiking with guests. We also have quite a few new
faces in the yard. Our friend Serge Sawrenko leased us his whole
team due to heath reasons, they are a great addition. Trevor Braun
left a few dogs before going to Old Crow. Roy and Sandra from Tok
gave us some great dogs in the spring on the same trip I picked
up some from the Second Chance League in Fairbanks, some very nice
dogs, hard to believe they ended up in the pound. Here is a link
for anyone interested in adopting some dogs from the SCL:

From this rather large pool, togehter with the ones who finished
last years Quest I have been picking my training crew for this fall
and winter. All 11 finishers I will train again, together with some
young and more "spunky" blood. In total 24 for training,
out of which Jocelyne can pick some to add to her Quest 300 team
later on.
There is quite a difference in training between those dogs, who
were working all summer and the ones who did not, which let`s me
nicely focus on the news guys, with being able to give the "old
" gang sime time off in the fall. All dogs are introduces on
the "dogs" page.
New this winter I offer a "sponsor"
system for the race dogs.
