New leader ...

The
early snow left pretty messy trail after it all melted away again.
We also had some unusual warm temperatures, in the 70F, so I gave
the dogs about a week of. Mike came back from the bush, he flew
out on Friday. Today he left for Braeburn to cut some firewood for
the winter and get the cabins ready....., he can never sit idle.
Now we are running on 3 days on, one off again. The only time of the day that is really possible is early in the morning, so we are getting up at dark. Casey and me running a team each, sometimes together, but most of the time we both go our own ways. Casey is doing great.
We
have been switching leaddogs each run and some days that brings
with it, that not the brightest bulbs" come up front. Today was
one of those days, where I put Zip and Wondar in lead. Indeed I
was wondering where I might be going with him. It took quite a bit
of patience to get him gee or haw when I wanted him to, Tang and
Brownie in the back of the team trying to impatiently pull the team
in the direction. After some first rough half an hour Zip finally
got the overhand and was just dragging Wondar over.... and sure
enough later in the run Wondar even stopped resisting.
Dancer is healing well after getting into some scuffle with Solo,
still not back running though.
We heard about a new 200 mile race in Yellowknife (e-mail Sam and Petra at sam-petra@arcticdata.nt.ca) on the 20th of November, which would be great to go to, but quite early in the season. Time will tell once we get closer, but it is for sure tempting, but a loooooongggg 2500 km drive.
