Circle City - Central
(Distanz 256 km)
A path with pleanty of curves leads southward into a hill chain during the Musher leave the Yukon River. "Only" 300-400 kilometers are now lieing between the finish line and the winner. Thick Weidengestrüpp and firs are surrounding the Trail how goes up an down until Central without new dangers for the dogs or mushers. According to the resttimes and the Ausdauer of the times a disadvantage from about 4 hours becames nearly impossible to catch up and Centeral is not the main thinking of the teams which are really begins to feight. Eagle Summit waits behind Central with its steep snowy climb. If there is a storm coming the pass will get impassable and so maybe the first team passing the summit is also the last before the end of the storm. Weather plays now a decisive role.
Also you cann’t trust the statements of the Musher because they won’t betray their strategy. During they lie at each other they are doing the same with the press, in hope that a novice of the race hears this and perhaps even believes. The amount of the dogs, motivation, strategy and experience of leaddog and Musher are now authoritativeer than ever before in the race.
