Northpole - Angel Creek

During the Trail follows the Chena River, with approx. 20 meters spread, the mushers begin slowly leaving the civilization behind them. The Trail is flat, leads by pasture bushes, close fir existence and swampy area, exhibits however no special obstacles. "OVERFLOW" on the Chena River (OVERFLOW = water, which is pressed by the ice to the surface) can be a problem. Angel Creek is a hotel/restaurant at Chena Hot Springs Road, the road that leads to the hot sources of the Chena Rivers. Here the mushers must insert a 2-hours obligation break to give their dogs a rest. Many of the fans follow the teams up to this checkpoint, which can be attained by road easily. Now the mushers are tired and also the dogs are more calmly after to first 150 km. Mushers can sleep in an unheated military tent and naturally order also a juicy steak.
