Eagle - Dawson City
(Distance 235 km)
Along the Tylor Highway les mushers drives over the American the Summit, a further mountain troubled by the wind. From this wind here are often large snow-sores, so that much must be driven "side slope", which however is very fatiguing, since the sled is always pulled toward valley. After a longer driving downhill, which crosses the border USA/Canada, they comes the Forty Mile River. Also this river is well-known for its low temperatures. Mushers drive on it up to its delta into the Yukon. There is the village Forty Mile, a spirit city with many old, abandoned Cabins. From here there ae again 80 kilometers on the Yukon until Dawson, where they may finally have the long desired 36-hours-pause.
