New Photo Album
It had been my intention to write something for the newsletter for quite a while, a lot has happend since my last entry summer snow. The dogs and I moved back to Whitehorse after the tours on the glacier were done. The training up there did the dogs very very well, so I was able to give them a few weeks off after.
Since middle of September training has begun, 72 dogs in training, which keeps us very busy. Right now there is 4 of us training, Laird is back, Gaetan who was here 2 years ago, and new is Ray (with his family of 6). We are still waiting for Hauke to arrive.
Skunk is the proud mom of 3 Popcorn puppies and Maria had 7 pups from Nemo.
The first snow has come and gone, we had to contend with quite a bit of mud, but it has since snowed again and finally the ground is frozen also, so the training conditons have improved a lot.
This winter we should have quite a few race reports for you in store, Andy (who maintains this website) has signed up to fulfill his long dream of running the Yukon Quest. Rudi has signed up for the Iditarod.
I am training 26 dogs for myself. In those 26 dogs are 11 dogs from Richie Beattie, who finished the Quest the past to winters (06, 07) but is taking a winter off and was nice enough to loan me the dogs for this season. It is very interesting and fun, training somebody elses dogs and I am quite sure a few of them will make my team. My teamm for ??? Time will tell.... They are melting in nicely with my crew, even Leroy, who prefers to sleep a bit seperate from everybody else, as the pictures shows, right next to my phone.
As Andy made a new photo album for the website, I included a few pictures of the move with 80 dogs, the doggang inside as well as some training pictures.
Enjoy,
cheers Sebastian
