Austin
New add on in Dec 2010: Austin is the most experienced dog I own. An 11 time Thousand Mile race finisher, ALL of my 1000 Milers. He is born in 2000.
Here continues the text from beforeHe came from the Whitehorse pound, so that age is only approximate. Austin I borrowed from Trevor for this winter,for the second time. He ran with me in the 2005 Quest, which also went from Whitehorse to Fairbanks. I hope he remembers the trail and checkpoints. With his dewclaws taken off, there should be less foot issues than in 2005. Austin has developed into a nice leader. I like him a lot, he always pulls, always eats and always has a good attitude. He is one of those dogs, which I can easily see finishing both races
Now where I write these lines, he has proven that he can finish both races and that more than once. He by now has finished 3 Quests and 4 Iditarods, Kusko, Kobuk, CB 300. A very solid dog, one of the best I have owned. Although he is older now, he runs in the B team we keep in shape for Iditarod 09, just in case....
